GUILLERMO LAPORTA
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Guillermo Laporta is a flutist, composer and designer based in Asturias and New York. His work has been recognized in media such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, Time Out, The Huffington Post, The Washington Post, EL PAÍS, EL Mundo and Japan Entertainment, as well as in national radio and television stations such as RTVE.
His compositions include the opera/film Architecture of a Common Man (2023), the ballet/opera Two Roads (2020), the opera Noctum (2011) and the musical LONDON, The Show (2009), all characterized by their fusion of music, visual narrative and technology.
Guillermo is founder, CEO and co-artistic director of CreArtBox, an innovative New York-based music company, currently celebrating its eleventh season. In 2020, he founded the ADAR Festival in Spain, with the purpose of revitalizing art in depopulated rural areas.
Passionate about expanding the flute repertoire, especially in chamber music, he composes new works and transcribes pieces originally written for other instruments. He has released three studio albums, two of which include his own compositions for flute and piano.
As a performer, he has worked with orchestras such as the BBC Orchestra, under the baton of prestigious conductors. He has performed at iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and has recorded for labels such as Warner Music, EMI and Naxos.
Between 2009 and 2012, he was co-principal flautist of the Oviedo Philharmonic Orchestra. His training included studies at the Royal College of Music (2008-2012) under the tutelage of flutist and conductor Jaime Martín.
JOSEFINA URRACA
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Josefina Urraca, co-director of CreArtBox and the ADAR Festival, is a Spanish pianist whose passion for music has led her to study at some of the world's most prestigious institutions, including Madrid, Paris, London and New York. Her teachers and mentors include renowned musicians such as Dmitri Bashkirov and Maria Joao Pires. Urraca is known for her interpretations characterized by "introspection and musical unbridledness," as praised by Classical World, and has performed in major concert halls such as Carnegie Hall and the Salle Cortot in Paris.
Throughout her career, Josefina has received numerous awards and recognitions from foundations and international competitions, standing out for her talent and dedication. She has been honored by entities such as the New York State Council on the Arts and the Manhattan School of Music. In addition to her outstanding career as a performer, she has contributed significantly to music education and has worked on several projects that promote music and the arts in the community.
As co-founder of CreArtBox, Urraca has played a crucial role in creating innovative art experiences that combine classical music with visual and theatrical elements. The ensemble has been acclaimed by publications such as The New Yorker and Time Out. Together with Guillermo Laporta, she has also founded a platform to develop the arts in rural areas of Spain, most notably with the ADAR Festival. Josefina divides her time between New York and Leiguarda, Asturias, where she continues to promote music and the arts in diverse communities.
