Association for the Development of the Arts in the Rural Milieu

The ADAR Festival is named in honor of the Association for the Development of Arts in Rural Areas, which organizes the event and operates as a dynamic non-profit association founded in 2020.

ORIGIN OF THE NAME

Associationfor the Developmentof the Artsin the RuralMilieu

Founded by musicians Guillermo Laporta and Josefina Urraca, this non-profit association was born when the couple moved to Leiguarda during the pandemic, with the aim of promoting culture and art in this charming region of Asturias.

Since its foundation, the association has been developing musical projects in rural areas using new technologies to revitalize the rural environment and bring the living arts to new audiences.

OBJECTIVES

  • Revitalize rural areas through cultural projects with international impact.

  • Bringing music and the arts to rural areas

  • Encourage the use of non-conventional and disused rural spaces.

  • Encouraging rural tourism through culture and attracting artists from international cultural currents.

  • Connecting and publicizing rural areas of Asturias with audiences around the world.

  • Using the arts as a means to address social issues such as climate change, gender-based violence or racial discrimination

ADAR Residency and Festival

The project consists of the development of a Festival for the promotion of the arts in rural areas. This project is completely focused to be carried out in rural areas of Asturias, covering villages, towns and parishes that suffer depopulation and do not exceed 500 inhabitants. It has the majority participation of Asturian artists with internationally recognized careers.
