Diego Arribas (Madrid, 1957) is a Spanish painter and sculptor, with a degree in Fine Arts in Sculpture from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a doctorate in Fine Arts from the Universitat Politècnica de València. He has been a professor and vice-dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Zaragoza, and was director of the Museo Salvador Victoria in Rubielos de Mora, where he curated exhibitions by artists such as Eduardo Chillida, Luis Feito and Jorge Oteiza. His work revolves around the relationship between nature, memory and industry; between 2000 and 2007 he developed Arte, industria y territorio, an intervention project in the former mines of Sierra Menera that gave rise to his doctoral thesis. He works with mixed media —relief, gilding, acrylic and reclaimed objects— on wood, incorporating materials from abandoned industrial installations. He has exhibited in more than twenty-five solo shows in Spain, France, Germany, Mexico and Uruguay. In 2002 he won first prize at the 1st International Biennial of Art in Nature (Germany).
