ADAR Residencies
A funded 21–30 day residency for groups of 4–5 artists and cultural professionals in Leiguarda, Asturias, Spain. Supported by Culture Moves Europe.

Dates and duration — read this before applying
- 21 to 30 consecutive days. One continuous stay. It cannot be split into two visits.
- Every member of the group must be present for the whole stay. Culture Moves Europe does not allow anyone to arrive late, leave early or interrupt their stay.
- It must take place between the end of October 2026 and 7 June 2027. Culture Moves Europe needs 30 days after we send them the list of residents, and 7 June 2027 is the last possible end date.
- In your email you must tell us how many days you would come and on which dates. Without that we cannot assess the application.

All top-ups are decided by Culture Moves Europe, not by ADAR, and require supporting documents. One rule worth knowing before you plan your journey: if you live less than 600 km away you must travel by means other than a plane, unless a disability prevents it or your home or destination is only reachable by air.
The residency
What the residency is
ADAR invites groups of 4–5 artists and cultural professionals to spend 21 to 30 consecutive days developing a project in Leiguarda, a small rural village in Asturias, northern Spain.
A space for
Research. Creation. Experimentation. Rehearsal. Artistic development. Preparation of a future work, recording, exhibition or performance.
A finished work is not required. The proposal can be simple, and it can be one stage of a larger project you will complete later.
What ADAR provides
Accommodation for the whole stay. Working and rehearsal space. Mentoring, and organisational and artistic support throughout the residency.
ADAR's hosting costs are covered separately and are not part of the money paid to residents.
The place
Where you would live and work
The residency takes place in Leiguarda, a small village in Belmonte de Miranda, surrounded by the mountains and landscape of central Asturias.
ADAR provides accommodation and working conditions for the complete residency, creating an environment for concentrated artistic work, exchange and experimentation.
Who can apply
Groups of 4–5, one single application
Apply as one group
Only one person sends the application, on behalf of everyone. The group may already work together, or may come together specifically for this residency.
Each member must
Be at least 18 years old. Be an artist or cultural professional in an eligible Culture Moves Europe sector. Legally reside in a Creative Europe country other than Spain.
You cannot apply if you legally reside in Spain.
Nationality does not determine eligibility — legal residence does. A Spanish artist legally residing in France, for example, may be eligible.
Eligible sectors: architecture · cultural heritage · design and fashion design · literature · music · performing arts · visual arts. Creative Europe countries are the 27 EU member states plus fourteen more — see the current list.

How many days, and when
How many days you would stay (between 21 and 30) and the dates. The whole group has to be there for all of them, without interruptions, between the end of October 2026 and 7 June 2027.
Give us more than one possible window if you can — it makes it easier to fit you in.

What happens after you send it
We review applications immediately after the deadline and contact the selected groups directly to talk through the project, the dates and the practical details. Only then do we ask for the official documentation Culture Moves Europe requires. Because of their administrative timeline, selected applicants need to be able to respond quickly.
FAQ
Questions
Can I apply alone?
No. This call is for groups of 4–5 residents.
Does everyone have to live in the same country?
No. Members may legally reside in different eligible Creative Europe countries — but none of them in Spain.
Does nationality matter?
No. Only legal residence counts.
Do we need to be an established group?
No. You can form a group specifically for this residency.
Do we need a full project proposal?
No. A few sentences are enough for the initial application.
Do we need to send CVs?
Not at this stage.
Do we have to produce a finished work?
No. Research, experimentation, rehearsal, creation or developing a future project are all valid.
How long is the residency?
Between 21 and 30 consecutive days, in one go, starting no earlier than the end of October 2026 and finishing by 7 June 2027.
Can one of us arrive later or leave earlier?
No. Culture Moves Europe requires every resident to be present for the entire stay, without interruption.
Can we split the stay into two visits?
No. It has to be one continuous period.
Do we have to give exact dates now?
Tell us how many days and which dates you are aiming for. If you can offer a second window, do — it helps. We will confirm the final dates with the selected group.
Is accommodation included?
Yes, provided by ADAR on top of the financial support.
One of us already did a Culture Moves Europe residency. Can they come?
No. Anyone who takes part as a resident under a Call for Residency Hosts between 2025 and 2028 cannot do a second one.
Can we prepare a future album, performance or exhibition?
Yes.
