Piano · Artistic Direction · Pianist and cultural manager, co-founder of CreArtBox and co-artistic director of Festival ADAR
Josefina Urraca is a Spanish pianist, co-founder and co-director of CreArtBox since 2013 and co-artistic director of Festival ADAR since 2021. Born in Palencia into a family of musicians, she trained at the Salamanca Conservatory and the University of Alcalá de Henares, and completed postgraduate studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music, the École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris and a master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music. Her teachers include Dmitri Bashkirov, Maria João Pires, Ferenc Rados, Josep Colom, Claudio Martínez-Mehner, Eldar Nebolsin and Marc Silverman. She has performed in halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Salle Cortot in Paris, the Sony Auditorium in Madrid and the Monten Hall in Tokyo. Together with the flutist Guillermo Laporta, her husband, she recorded her first album. With CreArtBox she has received the INJUVE Chamber Music Competition, the Montehermoso Prize for Contemporary Creation and an award from the Queens Council for the Arts. She lives between New York and Leiguarda (Asturias).
