Viola · Violist of the Cosmos Quartet and The Rest Project
Lara Fernández Ponce (Soria) is a violist. She began her viola studies at the age of seven in Soria and Madrid with Jensen Horn Sin Lam and Elena Pochekina, and graduated with distinction from the Higher Conservatory of Music of Aragon, with Avri Levitan and chamber music training with the Cuarteto Quiroga and Kennedy Moretti. She furthered her training with a master's degree at the Hochschule Hanns Eisler in Berlin under Volker Sprenger and Eberhard Feltz, and continued at the Hochschule in Hannover with Oliver Wille, of the Kuss Quartet. She is the violist of the Cosmos Quartet (Barcelona, 2014), an ensemble in residence at the Palau de la Música Catalana (2021-2024), with which she has won the first prize of the Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation (2018) and the BBVA Montserrat Alavedra Chamber Music Prize (2018). Since 2023 she has been part of The Rest Project alongside Maria Florea and Daniel Claret. She plays a 2019 David Bagué viola.
