Concert and performance at the Capilla de los Dolores (Grado, 2024)
The same evening the ADAR Festival presented its main programme at the Palacio de Miranda-Valdecarzana, visual artist Sarah K. Williams transformed the Capilla de los Dolores in Grado with a uniquely creative installation and performance, in which the musicians interacted with her piece while performing the Duo by Jessie Montgomery.
The Capilla de los Dolores, which the previous year had hosted a solo flute micro concert, was completely transformed in the 2024 edition thanks to the intervention of Sarah K. Williams. The artist, based in New York, conceived a site-specific installation that altered the perception of the space and created a dialogue between sacred architecture, visual art and live music.
The festival musicians interacted with Williams's piece while performing the Duo by Jessie Montgomery, a work whose rhythmic energy and expressive writing found in the installation an unexpected visual complement. The result was a multidisciplinary experience in which music, visual art, and performance merged into a single artistic gesture.
