Of Dances and Sonatas
The opening concert of the 6th edition took place inside a hórreo: La Figal de Xugabolos, in Casazorrina (Salas), one of the winners of the 2026 Hórreos & Paneras Competition. Harpsichordist Ignacio Prego opened the festival with a journey through the dance forms that shaped keyboard music between the 16th and 18th centuries.
From the Renaissance variations of Antonio de Cabezón and the celebrated Folías de España to Purcell's refined English suite and Scarlatti's unmistakable idiom, dance appeared transformed into a space for invention and virtuosity. The programme culminated in Bach's monumental Chaconne in Brahms's transcription.
