Hórreos and paneras contest 2025

The Adar Festival seeks the best hórreos for chamber music

The festival launches a contest to select three hórreos or paneras in Asturias that will become unique chamber-music stages during its fifth edition, from 4 to 17 August.

The Festival ADAR will hold its fifth edition from 4 to 17 August 2025 with a new initiative that unites music, tradition and citizen participation: the Hórreos and Paneras Contest 2025. The aim is to select three distinctive hórreos or paneras in Asturias that will be transformed into unique stages for chamber-music concerts during the festival.

The goal is not to “use a container”, but to create an artistic experience that respects the architecture, the landscape and the community of each place. The selected hórreos and paneras will be assessed for their architectural value, their surroundings and their scenic potential. The resulting micro-concerts will feature performers from the festival’s network and will be documented in audiovisual format.

The first prize will also receive a cash award. To take part, simply send an email to leiguardamusic@gmail.com or a WhatsApp message to 663 604 030 with several photographs of the hórreo or panera —general view, detail and surroundings—.

The initiative, driven by the Association for the Development of the Arts in Rural Areas, also seeks to promote the conservation of Asturian ethnographic heritage through contemporary creation. ADAR works from Leiguarda (Belmonte de Miranda) in collaboration with town councils, owners and local residents.
