ADAR: A festival to enjoy Asturian heritage
The fourth edition of the Festival ADAR, from 8 to 18 August, blends Asturias's rural and cultural heritage with contemporary artistic expression. The opening concert takes place on Monday the 12th at 19:30 at the Monasterio de San Antolín de Bedón.
The line-up of international performers includes Jone de la Fuente (violin), Almudena Rivas (viola), Natania Hoffman (cello), Mario Molina (piano), Guillermo Laporta (flute) and Josefina Urraca (piano). The repertoire runs through works by Mozart, Debussy, Vivaldi and contemporary composers such as Andrea Casarrubios.
Organised by the Asociación para el Desarrollo de las Artes en el Medio Rural, the festival operates through two formats: an artistic residency in Leiguarda (Belmonte de Miranda) and “ADAR en Ruta”, which brings classical and contemporary music —and visual art— to several municipalities.
The venues include the Monasterio de Cornellana, the Palacio Miranda-Valdecarzana and the Monasterio de San Antolín de Bedón. The programme also includes sound walks and concerts in hórreos. All activities are free admission until capacity is reached.
