Umbral Zero

At the Aula del Oro in Belmonte de Miranda —a former exhibition space of the municipality— Guillermo Laporta and Josefina Urraca offered an intimate night of minimalist music and visual art: music that tends towards zero, reduced to the smallest gesture until it grazes silence.

A flute-and-piano programme that linked the minimalism of Max Richter with the bareness of Satie and Bach, alongside a recent piece by Zygmund de Somogyi for amplified flute and electronics. The visual projection, by Guillermo Laporta, was woven into the programme; the video art for the Bach Suite is by Guillermo Ordás, with Natania Hoffman on cello.

Programme

Max Richter — Vladimir's Blues
Lili Boulanger — Nocturne
Erik Satie — Gymnopédie No. 1 (Lent et douloureux)
Zygmund de Somogyi — imsotired (: (2023), for amplified flute and electronics
Erik Satie — Gnossienne No. 3
Johann S. Bach — Cello Suite No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007 (video: Natania Hoffman, cello; video art by Guillermo Ordás)
Erik Satie — Gnossienne No. 1
Aleksandr Scriabin — Romance
