BallArte is an interdisciplinary ensemble based in Basel (Switzerland), founded by musicians connected to the Benasque Valley, combining classical music with dance and contemporary scenic elements. Among its driving forces is Nacho Laguna, theorbist and Baroque guitarist. Laguna regularly collaborates with leading early music ensembles such as the Venice Baroque Orchestra and Les Musiciens du Louvre, and has worked alongside artists such as Philippe Jaroussky and Christina Pluhar, performing in venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Royal Opera of Versailles. Together with Laguna, the core of BallArte is formed by violinist Berta Ares (founding organizer), gambist Giulio Tanasini (also co-founder of Trio Acciaccatura) and dancer Marina Ares, in addition to more than fifteen musicians, technicians and guest artists who take part in the festival.
